  2. This is the right sentence:
Gajan Patel (a well-known chef) is famous for his jalfrezi (a spicy Indian dish)
I know this is right because I do the covering trick
    This is the covering trick:
Gajan Patel famous for his jalfrezi.
    That sentence makes sense.
    But this doesn't:
    Gajan Patel.........
See that is not even a sentence.

  4. if we took away the words in brackets would the sentence make sense?
You did not notice that it said brackets which means more than 1 is needed.

  7. If you cover the brackets the sentence should make sense on its own. Remember brackets add extra inforfmation.

Read the sentence below and insert the missing brackets so it is punctuated correctly.

Jake wanted a snake for a pet but his mother didn't approve of his choice ( as she had a phobia of snakes).

  11. It is wrong because when you insert the brackets your meant to cover it and make sure it makes sense so it supposed to be like this: Gajan Petel (a well known celebrity) is famous for his (Jalfrzi spicy Indian dish).
