We are coming to the end of our topic on World War Two and have really learnt alot about how childrens lives were affected by it. I really enjoyed the topic and visit to Duxford as it was very interesting.

Can you write a report (approx. 150 words) about evacuation, rationing or even VE Day?

  1. the most interesting thing that we learnt about was when we discovered how the British, French, Russian forces won the the war against the Nazi. Also what i found out the most was the terrible war-time crime which was the Holocaust.

  3. What I really found interesting was that there were spies in WW2. Also, I found how people sacrificed their lives for our benefit and our future.

  4. Evacuation was a hard position in a child's life because they had to leave their family but a few children were lucky enough to stay with their family.

During the war children had to stay with an elder just for safety and they always had black cloths covering their windows so the enemies couldn't see the lights during their attack. When children were evacuated, they had to move away from their parents. Most children came back to their parents whilea few sadly lost their parents during war.

After the war they created a day called V Day which was celebrating Europe's victory.

  5. VE Day the day of victory.
VE DAY; the day that Londoner’s hearts reunited.

On Monday May 7th 1945, it was put in words that Britain was offically victorious. On that exact day, at exactly 02:41pm, German General Jodl signed the unconditional surrender document that formally ended war in Europe. It eventually came the time that high spirits were lifted in the country.

Winston Churchill was informed about this event at 07:00am.The Home Office issued a circular before any official announcement instructing the nation on how they could celebrate: “Bonfires will be allowed, but the government trusts that only material with no salvage value will be used,” People gathered on the streets with out the fear of bombs dropping. They linked hands and danced to the splendid live bands as the children stuffed their little mouths like there was no tomorrow.

At 13.00, Churchill went to Buckingham Palace to have a celebratory lunch with George VI. At 15:00 Churchill spoke to the nation from cabinet room, these were his words “May we rejoice in this brief period. Long life the cause of freedom! And may God save the King!”

THAT WAS VE DAY IN EUROUPE!

  6. What I found interesting about ww2 is that they used black clothes. The reason why is that there be no light and that means the Blitz wouldn't be attracted. If you ever wondered why children were evacuated well its because there parents wanted them to have a future. 1000 of kids were taken away from there parent to the country side some were lucky and had relatives there. All children were evacuated to the country side because there was less bombing there. Parents were also evacuated but not all because some had babies.
